P. Y. Pavithra Kumar Gurukkal (Born on 20 March 1957) pursued his early education in Brahmavar, graduating with a B.Sc. from Bhandarkars College, Kundapur, and completing post-graduation at Karnataka University. He joined Corporation Bank in 1980 as a clerk and retired in 2017 as Chief Manager, serving across Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Odisha.
An active union leader, he was an office bearer in the Corporation Bank Officers’ Association and now serves as Vice President of the All India Corporation Bank Retirees’ Association.
A sports enthusiast, Pavithra Kumar excelled in cricket and badminton, representing Corporation Bank in the All India Inter-Bank Shuttle Tournament (1985). His love for the arts earned him the Best Actor Award at the District Drama Competition (1992).
His Rotary journey began as Founder Secretary of the Rotaract Club of Kundapur (1974–75), later serving as President of Rotaract Club Brahmavar (1988–89), where he was recognized as Best President of RI Dist. 318. He also became Best Zonal Rotaract Representative the following year. He has since contributed to Rotary as a member of RC Moodbidri (2003) and RC Mangalore Hill Side (2017), serving as Sergeant-at-Arms and Secretary.
Married to Pramoda Kumari, the couple is blessed with two sons: Karthik, a Mechanical Engineer working in Dubai, and Kausthubh, a Pilot with IndiGo Airlines.
