In the year 1998, Rotary Club of Mangalore Port Town sponsored a new Rotary Club and named it Rotary Club of Kavoor. The new club received its Charter on 29th of April 1998. Charter President was Rtn Devaraj Manai. Subsequently the name of the club is changed to Rotary Club of Mangalore Downtown.
Rotary Club of Mangalore Downtown, though a small club, is a very vibrant club with members who are actively involved in serving the community around them. Rotary Club of Mangalore Downtown is a Rotary Citation /Presidential Citation Winner on many occasions over the past years and also has the distinction of winning District awards for our activities on a regular basis. Zonal Cultural Champions for successive years and members also excel in all the sports activities every year.
